Seeds have been reduced to as low as 15p in Wilko
If you fancy having a go at growing some of your own vegetables from seed next year, it may be worth checking your nearest Wilko store as soon as you can!
We popped into our local store this morning and saw that they have reduced their packets of seeds down to just a few pence each š It’s the end of the season and they are clearing out the seeds at bargain prices.
Sow by dates are 2025 so just keep your seeds in a container with a snug fitting lid such as this beautiful Seed Packet Storage Tin from Burgon & Ball, store in a cool dark place and they will be ready for planting in the spring!
Don’t be tempted to leave them in a shed in the garden though as fluctuating temperatures are not ideal – we keep ours in the utility room!
If you don’t have much garden space then many plants can be grown in raised beds on a patio, such as this fabulous Powder Coated Galvanised Steel Raised Planter or pots on a balcony so it’s definitely worth having a look to see if you can bag a bargain or two!!
We managed to get a really good selection of runner beans, climbing & dwarf beans, courgettes, lettuce, radish, spring onion and cabbage as well as some very pretty flower seeds to encourage pollinators into the plot.
Even if you have a shady plot you can still grow brassicas such as cabbage, sprouts, broccoli as well as salad leaves as these are all tolerant of shade and if you get a little bit of sun, maybe in the morning only, then it is also possible to grow carrots and leeks as they can tolerate afternoon shade.
